February is for Forgiveness
This February, join me for my signature online Zoom forgiveness series. Forgiveness begins with YOUR heart—lean into letting go while cultivating compassion for yourself and those who have caused you harm, guided by equanimity as our wise boundary.
The series includes four live classes on Thursdays, which will also be recorded:
February 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th
5:30 PM – 7:00 PM MST
Sam integrates traditional Buddhist meditation practices with insights from early childhood attachment injury and repair. These practices and teachings are designed to free our hearts from suffering caused by others, by ourselves, and within our own heart-minds.
Cost:
$60 (Scholarship)
$80 (Sustaining)
No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. If you need a deeper scholarship, please contact Sam directly.

(Note: There will be no class on 12/17.)
Working With Pain: Meeting Pain with Kindness & Mindful Care
4-Class Series on Zoom
March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
4:00–5:30 PM MST
Payment Options: $45 / $65 / $85 (Choose what you can afford)
Do you, or someone you know, experience chronic pain or general discomfort? Whether it’s regular physical pain or chronic illness, this series offers a compassionate approach to exploring the sensations of pain and your relationship to it.
Drawing from my own journey with chronic pain, fatigue, and healing trauma responses in the body, I’ll share practices to help you respond to pain with care and curiosity rather than seeing it as a problem that needs to be fixed. Together, we’ll work on breaking the cycle of emotional pain that often arises in response to physical discomfort, opening the door to living a full and happy life even with challenges.
Sign up below via Venmo. Classes will also be recorded for later viewing.
Northern Utah Insight & Sam Akers Present
2025 Retreats in Utah
May Retreat OPEN for Registration!
May 22–May 25th at Touch of Paradise Camp:
Concentration & Insight: Getting to Know Oneself with an Attitude of Friendliness & Curiosity.
Explore and respond to the natural world, both internally and externally. Concentration practice calms and settles the heart and mind while Insight practice allows us to know the arising and passing of objects at the sense gates of body, heart, ears, eyes and mind. We gain clear seeing and equanimity (wisdom) when we see the impermanent and impersonal nature of whatever attention might “move to” during practice. Dipa Ma was once asked what was in her mind. She responded, “Concentration, Peace and Love.” These states are available to us all through the doorways of Concentration and Insight practices. This is a “mostly” silent retreat with optional period of talking at the evening meal time.Yoga will be offered in the morning and in the evening and we will have access to an indoor space for yoga.
Meals will be vegetarian with vegan and gluten free options. Tracy Pace will return as our wonderful meal creator.
This is a retreat in nature and there will be bunk houses or bring your own tent/van camping.
Arrival time will be between 3:30-5pm on Thursday May 22nd and we will close at 1:30pm Sunday the 25th.
Cost: This is a Dana based retreat meaning that the teacher, cook, retreat manager and yoga instructor take payment only through student donations (Dana) to be offered at the close of retreat. The registration fees cover cost of renting the camp, meals and donation to Northern Utah Insight. Any left over funds will be offered to NUI. The Scholarship rate is lower than the cost per person to cover base costs. Please choose this rate for lower income. The Sustaining rate covers our base costs and the Benefactor rate assists with those on scholarships and donations to NUI. Please register at the rate you can afford HERE
Scholarship : $125
Sustaining: $165
Benefactor: $195
Once you have registered you will receive and initial welcome email with more information to come. Please note: This retreat is limited to 30 people and fills quickly. Full refunds are available through February 28th. A 60% refund is available if you need to cancel after February 28th through April 10th. NO refunds will be issued after April 10th but you can find someone to take your space. Thank you for understanding the time and planning that go into the creation of a retreat.

We can meet our spiritual selves in honoring the land, taking our seats with gratitude and grace and resting in the peace that is already here in each present moment.
